The New Mexico Center on Law and Poverty is hiring a Team Director or Supervising Attorney to address hunger and strengthen public assistance programs for children and families in New Mexico, including SNAP, TANF, childcare assistance, and Medicaid. This position will lead the Public Benefits Team’s work with community and family leaders to increase access to income, food, and other basic needs for New Mexicans. Our team engages in both policy advocacy and litigation that seeks fairness and equitable access to benefit systems. This includes improving program awareness and outreach, simplifying rules and application systems, removing barriers impacting immigrant, tribal and other communities, and responding to federal policy changes. While the team’s primary focus is public benefits, there is opportunity to advocate on a broad variety of legal and policy issues that are priorities for our communities. The role can be tailored to applicants with more management experience (Team Director) or provide opportunities for professional development to grow your management skills (Supervising Attorney).
