Safe and stable housing benefits the entire community.

Unfortunately, too many New Mexican families lack protections as tenants, putting them at risk of eviction and financial insecurity.

Even before the pandemic, New Mexico was experiencing a housing crisis, with over 43% of tenants unable to afford their rent and homelessness increasing faster than anywhere else in the nation. The  housing crisis has become even worse because of the economic challenges of COVID-19.

NMCLP is responding to the housing crisis by partnering with our communities and policymakers for policy changes that increase housing stability, remove barriers to housing assistance funds, and increase the rights of New Mexico’s renters.
