Paloma Mexika is the Communications Director at NMCLP where she leads a robust communications strategy through community-driven storytelling, earned media, and policy campaigns. During her time at the Center, she has collaborated on successful campaigns to increase New Mexico’s minimum wage, secure statewide paid sick leave, and create the Healthcare Affordability Fund—a fund that makes healthcare more affordable for New Mexicans. Prior to joining NMCLP, she staffed her state representative at the New Mexico Legislature supporting efforts to increase access to early childhood education and legalize cannabis, and she spent years working in the restaurant industry–building meaningful community relationships through important cultural touchpoints–food, drink, and togetherness. Outside of her professional role she is the proud mom of a toddler, lover of hip hop music, and golfer.
