Marco Alarid White is the Public Benefits Attorney at NMCLP, where he works to address hunger and improve public assistance programs for children and families in New Mexico. During the pandemic, he worked with The Food Depot, the regional food bank in Northern New Mexico, and later supported local food pantries in Philadelphia before returning to New Mexico to study law. While in law school, he clerked for New Mexico Legal Aid and Disability Rights New Mexico. He has served on the New Mexico Supreme Court Commission on Mental Health and Competency since its inception, and was the named plaintiff in the first successful removal action brought under Article 3 of the 14th Amendment since Reconstruction. He also helped launch the juvenile detention monitoring initiative carried out by the University of New Mexico Legal Clinic and Disability Rights New Mexico. Outside of work, he enjoys cooking and playing guitar.
