The Housing Outreach Liaison supports a Northern New Mexico campaign advancing housing stability and resident ownership in manufactured home communities. The role builds relationships with residents and community partners, coordinates outreach and public education events including documentary screenings, and connects residents to advocacy opportunities with policymakers and the media. As capacity allows, the position may also contribute to outreach and engagement supporting related housing and economic justice outreach

Roles & Responsibilities 

  • Public Education Events & Screenings: Coordinate 3-4 community events across Northern New Mexico on manufactured housing and resident ownership. Identify partner organizations, community hosts, venues, and participants, and support their engagement in planning and outreach. Support outreach to policymakers and community members to encourage participation. Manage event logistics, publicity, and coordination of partners, hosts, and speakers. 
  • Community Engagement & Advocacy Support: Support engagement with residents and partner organizations interested in advocacy and campaign activities by maintaining contact lists and communication channels. Connect residents and partners to opportunities for storytelling, media engagement, and legislative advocacy. Support participation in the Santa Fe legislative 

session, including in-person presence in Santa Fe as needed to facilitate engagement and participation. 

  • Know Your Rights Outreach: Support outreach efforts to develop and share information and materials about housing rights, available resources, and campaign activities with manufactured

home residents. Assist with partner communications, follow-up, and engagement activities that strengthen participation in the campaign. 

  • General Outreach Support: As capacity allows, provide outreach and engagement support across additional program areas, including event assistance, database management, and related administrative activities. This may include occasional travel to support outreach efforts with manufactured home residents in Southern New Mexico. 

The position reports to the Senior Communications Strategy and works closely with the Economic Equity (Housing) and Communications teams. This position is funded for one year with a potential extension based on funding and project development. The salary range is $55,000 – $77,000, commensurate with experience. 

Qualifications and Experience 

  • Strong commitment to housing stability and economic and racial justice in New Mexico Bilingual Spanish/English with strong written and verbal communication in both languages Experience in community outreach, event coordination, or related engagement work Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships across diverse communities Demonstrated ability to manage events and multiple tasks simultaneously 
  • Comfort learning and using tools for project management, data, and communications Willingness to travel throughout Northern New Mexico, including Santa Fe, and work occasional evenings and weekends 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Knowledge of manufactured housing, tenant rights, or economic justice issues Familiarity with New Mexico and experience working with low-income, rural, tribal, and immigrant communities 
  • Experience in state or local policy advocacy 
  • Experience with storytelling, media, or communications work 
  • Experience creating fact sheets, presentations, or other public-facing materials
