Re: Comments on school based services for recipients under twenty-one years of age

SENT VIA FACSIMILE AND US MAIL

 Dear Secretary Hyde:

The New Mexico Center on Law and Poverty was delighted to read the Department’s proposed regulations on school based services for recipients under twenty-one.  Your decision to enhance the scope of services and the number of providers that can provide services will ensure that more children obtain necessary services.  We also appreciate the new regulations concerning administrative oversight.

We respectfully suggest that the Human Services Department add psychologist associates to NMAC 8.320.6.13 which lists the individuals who may provide mental health services.   We assume that this omission was unintentional since psychological associates are contained in the list of eligible providers at NMAC 8.320.610(B(6)(b).

Thank you for the opportunity to comment on these well thought out regulations.

Sincerely,
Jama Fisk
Staff Attorney
